Devon's Cary Arms Brings a Glow to the British Winter With the 'Hygge Hut' Concept

De Savary

Five star boutique inn in Devon, Cary Arms & Spa, has introduced a two night 'Hygge Hut' concept during January and February 2017, Britain's coldest and most miserable months. The package embraces the Danish hygge phenomenon, meaning 'cosiness', which has taken the UK by storm this year.  With accommodation in one of the chic new Beach Huts with warming fireplaces, treatments in the new glass fronted sea view spa and special 'hygge' touches including Danish smørrebrød breakfast baskets, Cary Arms has winter contentment all wrapped up. The two night package costs from £490.

The hygge trend embraces the Nordic way of life, removing anything emotionally overwhelming and taking pleasure from the presence of gentle, soothing things; exactly what the Cary Arms will provide on a two night Hygge Hut break.  The six waterfront beach huts have floor to ceiling sliding doors offering uninterrupted sea views, stylish warming fireplaces and cosy furnishings as well as underfloor heating keeping them toasty even on the coldest day.

On arrival guests are welcomed into their Beach Hut with a bottle of red wine and a SMEG fridge stuffed with goodies.  Each hut has a sea view terrace with Adirondack loungers and a specially made fleece bag, waterproofed on the outside and soft and snug on the inside for enjoying the views al fresco. Each evening during turn-down, a hot water bottle wrapped in its own Arran knitted jersey is placed inside the bed. Danish smørrebrød breakfast baskets will be delivered to the huts each morning including rye bread, cold meats, cheese and jams.

The new spa will provide the relaxation and happiness crucial to the hygge state of being with use of the new hydrotherapy pool and sensual aromatherapy shower as well as time in an iconic Nordic sauna and a soothing Thalgo treatment.

The package is available from 13th January  to 28th February 2017 and costs from £490. This includes two nights in a Beach Hut, breakfast, a one hour Thalgo body or face treatment per person and a Devon cream tea.  Three course dinner is available at a supplement of £25 per person per night.
