A campaign promoting Devon's best restaurants and leading food and drink producers is returning for a second year running, with a month-long series of events being planned for June.
Devon Restaurant Month will bring together businesses from across the county to raise awareness of award-winning food and drink and increase their custom in the process.
Bovey Castle supported the campaign in its augural year and has already confirmed that head chef Marc Hardiman will be of the region's food champions offering a seasonally-inspired Moor to Coast menu for the event.
Devon's finest summertime ingredients feature in Marc Hardiman's weekly-changing three-course set menu for Devon Restaurant Month, reflecting the regional abundance of moorland and coastline specialties such as Dartmoor lamb, South Devon crab and vibrant summer fruits.
Served in Bovey Castle's fine dining Edwardian Grill, the restaurant overlooks the hotel's spectacular grounds on Dartmoor National Park, with pre-dinner cocktails served in the effortlessly sophisticated Oak Bar. Available Sunday to Thursday evenings throughout June, Moor to Coast is priced at £25 per person.
In 2012, events included Italian and French themed menus, cookery demonstrations, steak, fish and seafood evenings, wine tasting sessions, special suppers and lunches, as well as a wide range of one-off offers and discounts.
The project is being spearheaded by Jeff Cooper, who founded the initiative last year. Reflecting on the 2011 launch, Jeff said: "Last year's campaign was hugely successful and we were really overwhelmed by the amount of support and interest in 'Devon Restaurant Month'. It attracted a lot of attention and this year I would love to encourage producers to take part and join forces with the restaurants that they supply to host joint events."
He added: "I am really passionate about restaurateurs and producers from North, South, West and East Devon having a collective voice to show off the county as a real food destination for both local people and visitors alike."
Support for Devon Restaurant Month is led by Food and Drink Devon, Taste of the West, Heart of Devon, Visit Devon and Visit South Devon.
