Helpful Holidays

Two smart, period cottages owned by the renowned, country sports Arundell Arms Hotel in Lifton, west Devon with use of its private, 20 mile stretch of fly fishing Tamar riverbank, are available through specialist West Country self-catering agency Helpful Holidays. Cottage guests are also most welcome in the hotel's elegant restaurant as well as its smart bar and cosy pub.

One of the top fly fishing schools in the country, the Arundell Arms can provide tuition and the chefs will even prepare your catch of the day for dinner in the evening. After a day in the great outdoors, you can relax with a massage or beauty treatment in the cottage; guests also have shared use of the hotel's games room, which is equipped with a skittle alley, table football and table tennis, and are welcome to wander the grounds.

Sleeping four guests, Fisherman's Cottage was once the village police house. It adjoins the hotel, while Church Cottage, which has space for six and an open plan living/dining/kitchen area, is opposite the hotel by the village church; pets are welcome at both. Prices start from £315 per week (fishing and treatments extra by arrangement).
