Deb Archer, President and CEO of Destination Madison, is available to speak to how the current Coronavirus pandemic is impacting hospitality, tourism, hotels and restaurants in the greater Madison area and beyond. As a 26-year leader of Destination Madison, Archer provides an experienced perspective on how this situation is affecting these industry sectors and the value they play in the overall economy.
Archer recently wrote a guest newsletter about hospitality and tourism as a community and economic driver, and how both have been deeply impacted by the shutdown of the industry, amid the Coronavirus outbreak. Her column can be found here.
Under her leadership, Destination Madison has been recognized as Wisconsin's Most Helpful CVB, the Madison Area Sports Commission was named National Sports Commission of the Year and the organizations have been recognized with statewide Trailblazer awards. Other highlights of Archer's tenure have included luring and securing long-term contracts with IRONMAN and CrossFit to Madison, the staging of the highly successful Bucky on Parade and hosting events including the US Conference of Mayors; the World Stem Cell Summit and Congress for the New Urbanism.
Archer is former Chair of Destination International's Foundation and served on the association's Board of Directors. She is a former chair and continues to serve on the WI Governor's Council on Tourism and Destinations Wisconsin's Board.
