Desroches Island was delighted to have sponsored the 2nd annual Kiddies' Carnival. The Kiddies' Carnival is part of the 5th annual Seychelles Carnival which took place from the 24th-26th April. Desroches Island sponsored three awards: Best Overall Presentation, Best Costume and Best Choreograph. These were won by Anse Aux Pins School for Best Overall Presentation for their 'Flora & Fauna' theme, Takamaka School won best costume for their 'Protect the Environment' idea and the Best Choreograph prize went to Belombre School for their innovative, yet original dance moves!
The 2nd annual Kiddies' Carnival concludes the three day carnival celebrations. Seventeen schools from across the islands took part in the parade. Proud parents, grandparents, family and friends turned out to watch the future generations participate in the event which started at Paradis des Enfants Playground and finished at Freedom Square.
Following the theme from 2014, children were encouraged to make costumes using recyclable materials, transforming everyday materials into something spectacular! The purpose of this is to highlight the importance of protecting the environment and wildlife that inhabit the Seychelles using the three R's: reduce, reuse and recycle in their everyday life.
“Desroches Island was delighted to be able to support the Kiddies' Carnival. Desroches Island is a family destination and we welcome the opportunity to support future generations and inculcate the culture of Seychelles carnival in the young. “We were thrilled to sponsor three awards, rewarding the children for their marvelous displays of creativity, innovation and dancing.” Commented Ailsa Tavares, Brand Manager for Desroches Island.
Desroches Island is the perfect island hideaway escape for families: the young and the young at heart, in body and mind and looks forward to welcoming the next generation of islanders to its shores.
