Madrid celebrates its art and culture with the tenth edition of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend taking place from 12-15 September 2019. Recognised as one of the world's most important gallery weekends, the event sees a number of art galleries and museums simultaneously inaugurating their exhibitions with extended opening hours and a complete programme of carefully curated activities which aim to bring the general public closer to contemporary art and spread the word about Madrid's art scene.

Outside of the festival programme, contemporary art enthusiasts can enjoy a blend of Spanish art, design and architecture at five-star hotel, VP Plaza España Design. Located just minutes away from many of the galleries participating in Apertura Madrid, the property features a vast number of Spanish artists and designers such as Pere Gifre who specialises in sculpture, scenography and interior design, Nacho Zubela; an artist who's pieces are heavily influenced by the surroundings of Valle de Campo in Cantabria, and Fernando Palacios who specialises in painting and sculpture, with an approach that is halfway between the figurative and the abstract, amongst many others.
