DC-One - Pioneering A New Kind Of Wellbeing Holiday

Pacific Dental Corporation

There was a time when a holiday meant lying on a beach for two weeks relaxing, perhaps with some pampering spa treatments to complete the experience; in todays climate this is no longer enough, and increasingly discerning, time poor travellers want more from their valuable time away. DC one, a world-class dental practice with clinics in Bangkok and Phuket, is responding by providing a new kind of wellbeing holiday.

Just as destination spa has come into the mainstream to refer to a place where health and wellbeing are addressed holistically, destination dentistry is poised to offer a similar experience: turning the traditional medical tourism approach on its head by integrating dental treatments into a broader wellbeing holiday experience.

Thailand is rapidly gaining a reputation for excellence in dentistry and is becoming known as a destination where an exotic beach holiday or cultural experience can be combined with good-value dental treatment carried out to the highest standards. DC one offers a full spectrum of cosmetic dentistry to enable travellers to undertake enhancements in relaxing surroundings whilst making the most of some of the worlds finest dental care, to ensure they return home looking and feeling fabulous.

Offering of state-of-the art equipment and a team of internationally qualified practitioners, DC ones Bangkok practice services wealthy Thai society, the high profile ex-pat business community and their families, as well as members of the US, Canadian and several European embassies, who use the clinic as a regional centre for any of their personnel requiring dental care. The second clinic, DC one Med Spa Phuket is located in the smart Boat Lagoon development, shares its ethos and commitment to excellence. Set in tropical gardens on this beautiful resort island, DC one Med Spa consists of three specialised service centres: world class dentistry at the DC One Dental Clinic, dermatology and non-surgical facial procedures at the Face 2 Face Skin and Aesthetic Centre; and a wellness spa.

Treatments which can be carried out in just one visit, such as teeth whitening and computerised ceramic restorations and crowns (using Cerec 3DTM technology) are popular with short-stay visitors from overseas in search of the ultimate pampering holiday; more extensive work such as veneers can be undertaken as a twin centre holiday, with initial consultation in Bangkok, allowing time to enjoy the citys rich culture, excellent shopping and buzzing nightlife. On arrival in Phuket, X-rays and consultation notes will have been sent electronically and any preliminary work will have been carried out by the team to ensure procedures are executed efficiently, effectively and to the highest standards, allowing clients maximum time to enjoy the stunning beaches and attractions of this tropical paradise.

DC one has partnered with a number of carefully selected hotels to host clients throughout their trip and ensure a flawless experience from start to finish. The ultra-chic Sukhothai, a stylish luxury bolthole in the centre of Bangkok, offers outstanding contemporary design and impeccable service and has become known by style cognoscenti as the place to stay in Bangkok. Hotel partners for DC one Med Spa Phuket include The Chedi, a tranquil beachfront property boasting spacious accommodation in luxury cottages; and Paresa, a stunning ultra-luxe cliff top development due to open in July 2009.

Tropical Locations (www.tropical-locations.com, tel: 0845 277 3310) offers luxury holidays throughout Thailand and currently offers a nine night package incorporating eight nights at The Chedi Phuket and one night at The Sukhothai Bangkok. Prices start from 1,075 per person, based on two sharing accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. Notes to editors; Visitors to Thailand for dental treatment benefit from an unrivalled level of patient care, with all procedures carried out by highly trained dentists. In Thailand practicing law is much tighter than in the UK and all aspects of dental treatment are carried out by certified dentists, including tooth cleaning and dental impressions, which in many western countries are handled by poorly trained hygienists. It is also illegal for dentists in Thailand to work outside the strict remit of dentistry; therefore dentists may not carry out Botox injections, skin laser treatments, or any other kind of cosmetic facial procedure.

Founder and surgery director of international dental operations, Dr Yupares Nimkarn is a leading authority on orthodontics and dentistry techniques in Asia, having trained in Orthodontics at the University of Alabama, USA. Young and dynamic, the formidable and deceptively slight Yupares juggles her time between running her successful clinics in Bangkok and Phuket and travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia every month where she consults for private corporate clients.

Dr Yupares is also very active within International SOS, a consultancy network which provides medical assistance and healthcare to clients around the world. Yupares travels monthly to Cambodia and Vietnam and nurtures this side of her business a strategic partnership which she finds particularly rewarding as it allows her to share knowledge with her team on the ground in each location.

DC ones team of 25 dental specialists cover all dentistry disciplines including; cosmetic specialists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, peridontists, pediatric dentists, endodonstists and general practitioners. All members of staff hold internationally recognised dental qualifications and are fluent in English. The total number of international patients seen at the clinic numbers some 650 clients per month, of which almost 20% of these are UK nationals.
