CBS weatherman Dave Price will travel to the Myrtle Beach area during the 53rd annual Sun Fun Festival to do his weather report for CBS News The Early Show. Price and his television crew will broadcast the weather from the Myrtle Beach Pavilion the morning of Friday, June 4. The announcement was made this week by Michael Pumo, vice president and general manager of WBTW, the local CBS affiliate.
We worked hard to get CBS to recognize the importance of the Myrtle Beach area and the Sun Fun Festival, Pumo said. Through our marketing director, Chuck Spruill, we were able to get Dave Price here during Sun Fun. WBTW is proud and excited that the Sun Fun Festival and the Myrtle Beach area will be featured on every national CBS weather broadcast on the first full day of the festival. A five-time Emmy Award winner, Price was named weatherman and featured reporter for The Early Show in July 2003. Prior to that, he served as the weather anchor/co-host for the morning show on WNYW-TV/Fox 5 in New York. While he was at WNYW, he played a major role in the stations coverage of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center, the crash of American Airlines flight 587, and the war in Iraq.
Other television credits include the syndicated program Good Day Live, for which he was a features reporter; WTXF-TV in Philadephia, where he was a reporter and hosted Good Day Philadelphia; WBBM-TV in Chicago, where he was morning weather anchor and contributed feature and entertainment stories; and WSEE-TV in Erie, Pa., his first television job, where he was the stations weatherman.
A native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Price received his bachelors degree from Cornell University in 1987 and his masters degree from Columbia University in 1993. He lives in New York and in 2001 was named one of People magazine's 50 most eligible bachelors.
