DALLAS – VisitDallas announced today it has been ranked No. 6 on Cvent's 2018 list of the top 50 cities for meetings and events in the United States, moving up two spots in just one year. Dallas is the only Texas destination ranked in the top 10. Cvent, a leading event management platform, developed the ranking based on meeting and event booking activity in the Cvent Supplier Network.

VisitDallas experienced record sales and tourism numbers last year; 27.2 million people visited Dallas, spending $4.7 billion and generating a total economic impact of $8 billion. The VisitDallas sales team booked 2.4 million future room nights and 42 citywide events in the 2016-2017 fiscal year, a record in both categories.

The coming year and beyond holds more exciting developments for Dallas. In particular, Dallas is enjoying a boom in hotel supply. There are 18 recently opened hotels in the city and there are 37 hotel projects and more than 5,800 additional hotel rooms in the pipeline, including the cutting-edge Virgin Hotel opening in Dallas' hip Design District next year.

Cvent evaluated more than 5,000 U.S. cities featured on the Cvent Supplier Network to compile the seventh annual list. Activity was tracked from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2017, and the ranking was then determined by a set of qualifying criteria consisting of:

• Percentage of Qualified Meeting Venues
• Number of Profile Views
