Exploring some of Germany's most beautiful Christmas markets has just become much easier: Saxony has launched its Christmas Wonderland Saxony app which can be downloaded for free from the Google play store for Android smartphones and from the App Store for iOS devices.

The app is available in English, German and Italian and highlights the unique variety of Christmas traditions in Saxony. Visitors will find information about Christmas markets in the region's towns, cities, palaces and castles as well as about a number of seasonal events such as Christmas parades, concerts and exhibitions. The content is presented in listings as well as map formats, and users will be guided to their chosen destination. The app also includes a special picture function, allowing visitors to take their Christmas market pictures and send them directly to the Saxony Tourism Facebook page to be shared on the platform.

Apart from being home to Germany's oldest Christmas market in Dresden (since 1434), Saxony is also famous for the unique wooden Christmas decorations and toys produced in the Ore Mountains. Sights such as the Toy Museum in Seiffen or the "Factory of Dreams" in Annaberg-Buchholz with its unique displays of Ore Mountains folk art are also featured in the Christmas Wonderland Saxony app.
