Cultural Heart of Germany with new website

TMGS Tourismus Marketing Gesellschaft Sachsen mbH

The Cultural Heart of Germany tourism initiative has launched a new UK website as a comprehensive hub for information on sights and attractions in the two regions of Saxony and Thuringia.

The central German federal states of Saxony and Thuringia stand for a unique wealth of culture, historic towns and cities as well as stunning nature that all take centre stage on www.cultural-heart-of-germany.com in the website's four main sections “Towns & Cities”, “Travel Themes”, “Travel Routes” and “Nature & Outdoors”. Alongside highlighting Saxony's and Thuringia's towns and cities, including major destinations such as Dresden, Leipzig or Erfurt and off-the-beaten track gems, including Görlitz, Meissen, Freiberg, Eisenach, Weimar or Jena, the online resource focuses on travel themes, including palaces, parks & gardens, music, arts & culture, historic railways, UNESCO sites, food & drink or Christmas. Many of these themes are replicated in the travel route suggestions for travellers looking to road trip.

Both the themes and travel routes section also feature dedicated Bauhaus & Modernism content for visitors interested on exploring Saxony and Thuringia on the design and architecture trail. Celebrating its centenary this year, the Bauhaus design school was founded in Thuringia in 2019 and a new Bauhaus museum is set to open in its birthplace Weimar on 6 April 2019, showcasing the world's oldest Bauhaus collection. Neighbouring Saxony is home to a stunning range of buildings in the Bauhaus and Modernism vein and features many hidden design treasures to discover.

Nature lovers should click on “Nature & Outdoors” where they will find lots to like including the ancient trees of Hainich National Park or the stunningly bizarre rock formations of Saxon Switzerland, plus top hiking and cycling options. The website also lists major annual events and provides regular news on things to see and do in the Cultural Heart of Germany. Travel trade and press will also find dedicated sections and contact details.
