Crystalbrook Collection Appoints Jeremy Nordkamp to Steer Cairns Flagship Resort, Riley

Crystalbrook Collection

It's a welcome homecoming of sorts for the new general manager of Crystalbrook Collection's five-star luxury Cairns resort Riley, Jeremy Nordkamp.

Nordkamp has more than 14 years' experience in the hotel industry, having spent the first 10 years working in his home state of Queensland so locals shouldn't be surprised to see him making the most of everything the Tropical North has to offer.

Growing up in Coolum in the Sunshine Coast, Nordkamp moved to Fraser Island to start his hospitality career at Kingfisher Bay Resort, working at fine dining restaurant Seabelle.  He then worked his way front of house manager at a number of island resorts (Dunk Island, Kingfisher Bay) and Brisbane hotels (Hilton International, Mantra Southbank) before being named general manager of Peppers Beach Club in 2012.

He left the Port Douglas resort, almost two years later to lead the pre-opening team at Mantra on Edward in Brisbane before heading south to do the same at Peppers Docklands. Following a brief stint at Ovolo Laneways, Nordkamp headed overseas to take on the role of resort manager at Kandima, Maldives.

Returning to Brisbane mid-2018, he joins Riley having spent the past 18 months as General Manager of The Calile Hotel.

“I love working outside the box and challenging the status quo, looking for new innovative ways to surprise guests through service and the food and beverage journey of a property,” Nordkamp states.

“Crystalbrook is leading the luxury hotel industry in this space and I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting journey. Crystalbrook has truly put Cairns back on the map as the ideal destination for not only the leisure market but for the corporate and events spaces as well.”

Given Riley's mantra is about living in the moment and rediscovering fun, Nordkamp cannot wait to enjoy the benefits of returning to Tropical North Queensland.

“We have it all up here; from the rainforest and the reef, the tablelands, waterfalls, mountains, trekking, mountain bike tracks, triathlons and, not to mention some of the best motorbike rides in the country, who wouldn't jump at the chance to come and stay for a while or return home?”
