Stay In Devon predicts a record 2014 after reporting a significant increase in those searching for holidays in the county. Based on a year on year comparison of the last weekend in January, the accommodation website saw a 41% increase in those looking for a holiday in Devon. The north of the county proved most popular with Croyde being the top destination, followed closely by Appledore and Westward Ho!
Despite the economic pressures it would appear that people are hoping to treat themselves to a break, with the site also seeing a 99% increase in luxury searches during the first week of the year.
With recent studies showing that consumers are becoming more spontaneous and the summer heatwave of 2013 giving people more confidence when booking a holiday in the UK, Stay In is optimistic that this year will be the best yet.
Managing Director, James Morris said: "It's great to see that Devon is proving to be a popular holiday destination and is gaining more interest every year. Devon has so much to offer and it's refreshing to know that people are considering a holiday in the UK."
Stay In spoke to independent cottage company holidaycottages.co.uk who also reported an 18% increase in visitors compared with this time last year.
