The Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports, Nikolina Brnjac, and the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB), Kristjan Staničić, have officially launched the “Safe stay in Croatia” project, a web platform that provides information about the health and safety measures that Croatia is currently undertaking during the coronavirus pandemic and where Croatian travel trade can register for their own “Safe stay in Croatia” label, as a designation of adhering to all prescribed epidemiological measures.
“During preparations for this tourist year, while unfortunately the pandemic continues, it is precisely the safety and health of our fellow citizens and guests that we put in first place. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Safe stay in Croatia project are supported by leading tourist and professional associations gathered in the Council for the Recovery and Development of Tourism, realisation of the tourist year 2021 and the improvement of tourist offer. With prescribed protocols we covered more than 200,000 hospitality and service providers in tourism", said Brnjac during the recent press conference that revealed the new national label available to all stakeholders in tourism and the travel chain.
According to Kristjan Staničić, this new campaign has an educational character as well because they want to present protocols and epidemiological measures at all levels of the tourism industry in order to enable guests to stay safely and pleasantly. “Users will also have the opportunity to leave their impressions through a form on the website, which is important feedback that we will be able to use for further development”, added Brnjac.
Croatia is the perfect mix of the vibrant energy you would expect from a young country - friendly, relaxed and with hospitable ways of the traditional Mediterranean. This initiative is a step forward for domestic and foreign visitors to enjoy the diversity and abundant magic of this country.

Natural wonders
Safety remains the main focus for Croatia in 2021, following last year's recognition as a safe destination due to its good epidemiological situation. When travel is possible again, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the beauty and the favourable weather of this European territory – mild and perfect for activities in nature.
Mount Dinara Nature Park, recently announced as the 12th nature park in Croatia, harbours many endemic and endangered species and it is also habitat to more than a thousand plant varieties. The park extends over two counties (Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin) and encloses Croatia's section of Mount Dinara as well as Mt Troglav and Mt Kamešnica with an area almost 63,000 hectares large.
In addition, Papuk Nature Park and Plitvice Lakes National Park count as the great escape from overcrowded locations. Papuk is a place of centennial trees and impressive caves and it has one of the most attractive destinations within the park, which is the Jankovac Park Forest. Papuk is also home to two true giants, two sessile oaks. Yew is one of the most precious trees and there are around ten of them located in the Debeljak forest.
From the pristine blue sea to mystical mountains and spectacular national parks, Croatia welcomes its visitors every year to the outstanding natural beauty of Plitvice Lakes National Park, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. Plitvice Lakes has a geographical landscape known as "karst topography" and is the basis of some of the most visually geographical locations in the world. Popular activities available in these locations include sports climbing, cycling and hiking.
