Creative fun all summer long at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Shropshire

21st July - 2nd September

Fire your imagination with a summer of creative fun at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums and make your choice from the huge array of family friendly activities running over the school holidays from 21st July to 2nd September. Take part in themed workshops, follow family trails and see inspiring free exhibitions, all in Shropshire's fascinating World Heritage Site.

Head to Blists Hill Victorian Town where you can get hands-on and have a go at various activities on different days of the week. Some days you can make mini-bricks, on others build a tiny steam engine or dip candles. Talk to the Townsfolk and find out how the Victorians lived and worked in their shops and homes. Follow trails around the Town to learn about the men and women who worked in the foundries and factories during the Industrial Revolution and explore the beautiful woodlands and canal-side walks. Don't forget your camera, as there are plenty of selfie opportunities around the Town, especially if you try on the Victorian hats and caps in 'Selfie-Corner'.

Get creative at Enginuity and join fun design and make workshops. Depending when you visit, use recycled scrap materials to build a mini-digger or earth mover, customise a gym bag with your own pattern, or make a box and discover whether it will protect an egg launched down a zip wire.  Afterwards gets hands-on with the interactive exhibits at Enginuity to experience the world of design and technology.

On many dates over the summer holidays younger visitors can also take part in digital coding and robotics workshops at Enginuity's Fab Lab. No previous experience is needed but places are limited and must be pre-booked by calling 01952 433970.

Take inspiration from the magnificent monuments and furnaces around The Gorge and join workshops at Coalport China Museum to paint money boxes, fridge magnets or paper plates. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays there's also a chance to try sculpting with air-drying clay. Then over at Jackfield Tile Museum decorate a ceramic tile with your own blazing furnace or fiery industrial design.

During the summer you can also view two fascinating free exhibitions. Wander around the 37 silhouettes of women who gained the vote 100 years ago on the Green at Coalbrookdale, or at Jackfield Tile Museum see inspirational entries from the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition.

Make the most of daytime visits to all 10 award-winning museums with a great value Annual Passport Ticket; individual museum entry tickets are also available. Activities will vary from day-to-day and some additional costs will apply. For details and opening times Tel: 01952 433 424 or visit www.ironbridge.org.uk
