With an array of activities on offer for all guests, Lane Head is a Lake District home like no other. A fantastic & unique base to come together and enjoy outdoor education courses, activities, celebrations and much more. Perfect for corporate and independent groups, friends and families alike. In essence a large and versatile space in an amazing setting....

Standing in an elevated position overlooking Coniston Water, the village and the dramatic fells beyond, Lane Head, an exceptional period property, is superbly situated for those who wish to explore the delights of the local area.

Historically this impressive home was once owned by William Collingwood, secretary to John Ruskin and a renowned artist in his own right. Furthermore it is believed that Arthur Ransome, a close friend of Collingwood and author of the world famous Swallows & Amazons, spent much time at Lane Head and taught Collingwood's grandchildren to sail on the lake.

Now lovingly refurbished to offer its guests simple, spacious, comfortable & practical accommodation, this magnificent home can adequately sleep up to 35 within eight roomy bedrooms, the majority of which enjoy breath-taking lake and mountain views.

Outdoor enthusiasts will revel in endless water based activities available on Coniston Water whilst cyclists both road and mountain, will relish the varied routes available straight from the front door, including Grizedale Forest and its renowned North Face trail.

Culture lovers will find solace in the nearby Brantwood House, the historic home of John Ruskin which now encompasses a museum, delightful gardens and vibrant arts scene. Lane Head's setting alone should be enough to inspire any visitor and allow creative juices to flow, whether by painting the surrounding landscape as Collingwood did many years ago, or enjoying blissful yoga classes on the front lawn. If you want to run a course from knitting to paragliding, Lane Head is the ideal base.

Working with local company Adventure 21 we are able to offer fantastic, flexible, educational and active stays in the heart of England's adventure capital. Tailor make your stay to suit your group's wants and needs. All activities are immediately onsite at Lane Head or not far from the doorstep. These bespoke adventure packages can be arranged during your stay from as little as £35 for half a day. Activities on offer range from hill walking and bush craft to gorge scrambling and open canoeing. As the activities are carried out by a reputable provider, all you and your friends, family or colleagues have to do is simply show up.

A 3 night weekend stay at Lanehead the 5th May 2017 costs a truly valuable £2508, that's just £23.88 per person/per night, based on 35 staying. Astonishingly the price per head still remains under £50 per person/per night (£46) if only 18 bed spaces are filled!
