RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild (NCCBG) announced today the winners of the NC Brewers' Cup, a beer competition that it hosts in partnership with the North Carolina State Fair. Best in Show honors in the commercial division went to Raleigh's Crank Arm Brewing for its Rickshaw Rye India Pale Ale (IPA).
In the competition's third year, the number of entries increased from 391 to 410. Mystery Brewing Company in Hillsborough played host to the competition on September 6 and 7. Entries were accepted from both professional and amateur brewers based in North Carolina and were evaluated by 30 professional judges.
Top winners will be displayed in the Education Building during the NC State Fair October 16-26 in Raleigh.
Commercial Brewery Top Honors:
Best in Show: Crank Arm Brewing, Raleigh—Rickshaw Rye IPA
Second Place Overall: Hi-Wire Brewing, Asheville—Hi-Wire Lager
Third Place Overall: Mystery Brewing, Hillsborough—Batch #1 Golden Ale w/ Brett
Honorable Mention Overall: The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Charlotte—Copper
Home Brewer Top Honors:
Best in Show: Brandon Moyer—Kolsch
Second Place Overall: Dennis Pike—Vienna Lager
Third Place Overall: Robert Lovelace—Light American Lager
Honorable Mention Overall: Christopher Olden—Russian Imperial Stout

The NC Brewers' Cup trophy will be presented by sponsor All About Beer magazine at the North Carolina Craft Brewers Conference November 5-7 in Greensboro.
