Cox & Kings Goes Farther In The Far East

Cox & Kings Travel Ltd

NEW 2015 FAR EAST BROCHURE FEATURES THE PHILIPPINES AS WELL AS NEW TOURS IN CHINA AND MONGOLIA

Cox & Kings' new Far East brochure for 2015 features a comprehensive programme of escorted group tours and private holidays to China, Japan, Mongolia and south-east Asia. New to the Cox & Kings range for 2015 is the Philippines, with suggestions for private travel to discover more than the beautiful coastline. For 2015 there are also new options for travelling by train or river cruise, as well as new itineraries in Mongolia, northern Thailand, China and Indonesia.

Neill Prothero, Far East product manager at Cox & Kings says: “I am delighted to be introducing the Philippines into the Cox & Kings product for 2015. It's traditionally seen as a beach destination but with so many islands, it has a lot more to offer: colonial heritage, wildlife such as whale sharks and tarsier primates and an interesting culture. New direct flights with Philippine Airlines make it more accessible, or it can be easily combined with a stopover in Hong Kong. The Far East is such a diverse part of the world, offering a range of experiences to suit every budget and there's very little our team of experts here can't arrange.

CHINA: China remains one of the bestselling countries in Cox & Kings' Far East brochure and the luxury departure of the Grand Tour has seen passenger numbers more than double in 2014 compared to 2013. With clients increasingly looking to travel away from the main tourist areas, Cox & Kings is introducing China in Style by Rail, a new 12-day / 10-night private tour. Priced from £2,695 per person, the suggested itinerary explores the country in comfort using the rapidly expanding high-speed rail network. With new airports being built on the outskirts of cities, and increasing airfares, train travel in China offers value for money and is time-efficient.

JAPAN: Passenger numbers to Japan have continued to grow in 2014, boosted by the favourable exchange rate of the yen, and advance bookings for 2015 indicate are that 2015 will be another strong year. Often considered an expensive destination, Japan is the best value it's been for many years. Japan's Cultural Treasures is a 13-day / 10-night escorted tour priced from £4,395 per person.

NEW: MONGOLIA: One of the last great wilderness regions, Mongolia offers desert, mountain, steppe and a unique nomadic culture. As well as its existing escorted tour, Cox & Kings is introducing a new private tour, which uses domestic flights to maximise time in the country, eliminating long drives and making it a more comfortable experience. Staying in 5-star accommodation in Ulan Bator and the Three Camel Lodge in the Gobi desert, the highlight for most travellers to Mongolia is a stay in an authentic nomadic camp on the steppe. Spirit of Mongolia is a 12-day / 10-night private tour priced from £3,795 per person.

NEW: THAILAND: Withpassenger numbers travelling in south-east Asia increasing, Cox & Kings is introducing a new private tour to northern Thailand exploring hill tribes and villages to discover more about the varied traditions, cultures and beliefs. Beginning in Sukhotai, the tour uses roads and river to travel through the mountains to the lesser-visited and more authentic tribal areas. Northern Thailand Explorer is a 14-day / 11-night private tour priced from £2,655 per person.

NEW: PHILIPPINES: With over 7,000 islands to discover, this new destination for Cox & Kings offers a range of experiences and excursions. While the country's countless beaches are well known, there is much more to explore beyond the sands. In North Luzon there are the Unesco-recognised rice terraces, the hanging coffins in Sagada as well as caves and hot springs. Island-hopping in the Philippines is a suggested 14-day / 11-night itinerary priced from £3,195 per person taking in the main attractions. Starting with the colonial history of the capital, Manila, Cox & Kings recommends flying to the islands of Cebu and Bohol to see more of the landscapes and wildlife – including the Philippine tarsier, dolphins, whales and whale sharks – and then finishing on a beach on Boracay.

All prices include flights, transfers and guided excursions and accommodation with breakfast daily and other meals as specified.

NOTE TO EDITORS

Cox & Kings is the world's longest established travel company. Its history stretches back more than 250 years to 1758 when Richard Cox was appointed regimental agent to the Footguards (later the Grenadier Guards). The company's fortunes grew hand in hand with the British empire and by the early 20th century the company was acting as agent and banker throughout the armed forces and as a shipping agent. In 1922 Cox & Co merged with the Henry S King bank, which had strong connections with India. The bank became part of Lloyds and the shipping agency grew separately, evolving into the modern travel company.

Today, built on the high quality service and attention to detail established by Richard Cox in the 18th century, the company continues to flourish as an independent tour operator, with operations in London, the US, Japan, Australia and throughout India. Cox & Kings organises escorted small-group tours and private tailor-made travel in the Indian Subcontinent, Latin America, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa, Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, and the Caribbean.
