In order to hinder and limit the possible spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) in Italy, the Italian Government has ordered a series of restrictions applied to the whole country that will be in force until 3 April 2020.
Tourism
On the subject of tourism, the Government encourages avoiding any movement across all country (see “Tourism” section of Decree's FAQ by Prime Minister of 9 March 2020).
Only Italian and foreign tourists still on holiday who need to come back to their places of residence are allowed to move. Airports and railways stations are open just to allow these people to come back to their own places.
The Italian Government recommends checking the status of flights and means of public transport on the websites of overland, sea and air transport companies before setting off.
Restrictions applied to the whole country (DPCM 8 March 2020 and DPCM 9 March 2020)
The Decrees by Prime Minister dated 8 March 2020 and 9 March 2020 establish a series of measures that regulate the behavior of Italian citizens and tourists across the country:

Compliance checks of mobility restrictions will concern roads and highways, trains and railway stations, airports (with the exception of transferring passengers. For Schengen and non-Schengen departures, self-declarations will be requested only for residents or people living in the areas subject to restrictions. For Schengen and non-Schengen arrivals, passengers will have to justify the purpose of their trip upon entry), cruise ships (Venice).
