Courtney Act to Perform on Sydney Harbour Bridge to Kick Off BridgeClimb's Mardi Gras Celebrations

BridgeClimb Sydney

Award-winning drag queen Courtney Act will perform on top of Australia's iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge on Thursday 6 February to kick off Sydney's world-renowned Mardi Gras celebrations. This will be the first drag performance on the globally famous structure.

'I'm honoured to be performing on top of Sydney Harbour Bridge for BridgeClimb's Mardi Gras festivities. I can't wait to kick off celebrations in style for my favourite time of the year.'

Courtney Act is the ultimate performer, party starter and global LGBTIQ icon. Courtney broke out of the box in 2003 on the premiere season of Australian Idol, she then placed Top 3 on the Emmy Award-winning RuPaul's Drag Race, which won her a legion of new fans around the world. The world watched as Courtney Act was crowned winner of Celebrity Big Brother UK – educating viewers on queer issues such as gender identity and fluidity, sexuality, same-sex marriage and much more.

Not one for resting on her stilettoed laurels, Courtney Act competed in the inaugural Eurovision – Australia Decides, launching her smash-hit single Fight For Love. Making television history again, this time as one-half the world's first same-sex pairing, Courtney Act and Shane Jenek danced their way into the heart of the nation and as a runner up on Dancing With The Stars.

BridgeClimb welcomes guests from around the world to climb throughout Mardi Gras. From sunrise to night climbs, it's a great way for Sydneysiders to showcase their beautiful city to those who are visiting for the two week-long celebrations.

'This truly is an icon meets icon event. We can't wait to see Courtney strut her stuff on the famous iron structure. This performance is the perfect way to kick off Mardi Gras celebrations in Sydney, loud and proud.' Chris Zumwalt, CEO BridgeClimb.

BridgeClimb has been taking visitors from around the world to the Summit of the internationally-adored Sydney Harbour Bridge since 1998. Over four million local and international visitors have climbed the bridge in the last 21 years.

Over two decades, BridgeClimb has hosted weddings, proposals, birthday parties, as well as celebrations to commemorate cultural events, festivals and national holidays. Now, ahead of Mardi Gras, BridgeClimb has invited one of the most prolific and successful drag acts in the world to sing at the Summit.
