Kivo Art & Gourmet Hotel, a stylish contemporary resort on the Greek island of Skiathos, is offering couples the chance to stream their foreign wedding live over the internet.
The 40-room resort, which is licensed for civil ceremonies, is keen to help couples wishing to marry abroad share their special day with friends and family who may not be able to travel. Now, those who choose to say their vows on the Greek island of Skiathos – the sanctuary of Dionysus, god of fertility – can invite all their nearest and dearest to the celebration.
The ceremony and reception is streamed live using cutting-edge technology that allows multicasting via all major platforms, such as YouTube, Livestream, and Ustream. In a technological twist on the traditional wedding telegram, absent family and friends can even send their best wishes live over a big screen at the reception. And a website featuring a wedding album of stories and photos about the happy couple plays as a slideshow to provide a poignant backdrop to events, which can also be shared across social media networks.
Kivo Art & Gourmet Hotel, set on a hill surrounded by olive groves and pine woods, provides a magical location for weddings. The ceremony takes place on the main terrace, overlooking the deep blue Aegean, and the reception is timed to coincide with sunset and held around the pool, which is decorated with lanterns and floating candles. The bridal suite, which features a private infinity pool, is adorned with flowers and set with a bottle of Champagne.
The hotel has a dedicated wedding coordinator, who can help organise the ceremony and certificate and advise on local contacts for hair and beauty, flowers and music. Venue hire starts from €1,000 (£747) for 40 people to €2,500 (£1,868) for 200 people. Menus start from €30 (£22) per person, minimum 15 people, to €70 (£52) per person, minimum 50 people. Couples marrying at the hotel get seven nights for the price of six in the bridal suite, which costs from €409 to €670 (£305 to £500) per night depending on season, including breakfast daily, and Champagne and fruit basket on the first night.
Prices for live streaming packages start at €699 (£522) for a single camera, rising to €1,999 (£1,493) for a multi-camera set up. Customised quotes are available on request. All packages include domain registration and design and development of the wedding website. An edited DVD from the live stream is included, while supplementary DVD graphics and wedding photography can be quoted for separately.

More about the hotel and the Kivo Skiathos Collection
Kivo Art & Gourmet Hotel is a stylish, contemporary, four-star property, just outside Skiathos Town. It mixes the personal touch of a boutique hotel with the services of a grander resort. The property is spread across a sequence of white cottages with red-tiled roofs, within 15 acres of gardens, and has 38 double bedrooms, as well as a pair of romantic two-room suites, one with its own infinity pool.
Interiors are tastefully decorated in white and soft pastels, reflecting the natural colours of the island, and each has been luxuriously re-furnished for the next summer season, all now featuring king-size beds. Also new for 2015, two more “art rooms”, to add to the existing four, will be unveiled. Greek artists, including the photographer Argiris Zafeiridis and the painter Kostas Komninos, have been commissioned to create imaginative spaces for guests seeking inspiring lodgings.
Kivo Art & Gourmet Hotel has two restaurants. Kivo Greek Creative Restaurant by baxevanis offers an innovative menu of dishes using traditional ingredients – some grown in the hotel grounds – created by the award-winning chef Giannis Baxevanis, whose many accolades include Chef de L'Avenir from the Académie Internationale de la Gastronomie in France. Kivo Modern Asian Restaurant draws the inspiration for its menu from Japan, China, Thailand and India. Weekly cookery day courses are also available during the season.
Facilities at the hotel include adult and children's swimming pools and a sun terrace with views over the Mediterranean. Guests also enjoy access to a private area on nearby Mikros Vasilias beach, where sunbeds, towels, drinks and snacks are provided. The hotel makes and sells its own line of artisanal products, many locally sourced, including olive oil, red wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, herbs, honey and soap.
The hotel is part of the Kivo Skiathos Collection, which is dedicated to creating memory-making holiday experiences across the island. A free, full-colour magazine, Skiathos Traveller, filled with ideas about what to do on the island – from hiking to scuba diving – is published by the Collection. The print version is available at the hotel and the magazine can be read online at skiathostraveller.com and by downloading the app for iPhone or iPad.
Meanwhile, Kivo Art Gallery in Skiathos Town showcases new and established talent, with a changing programme of exhibitions. This summer's highlights include 'Seascapes I', by the photographer Argiris Zafeiridis.
Kivo Art & Gourmet Hotel is open from 1 May to 10 October 2015. Rooms cost from €80 (£62) per night and there is a minimum stay of five nights.
