Countdown to ATE 2011 Begins

Tourism Australia

With the 2011 Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) set to get underway in less than a week there’s lots of new news from Australian suppliers building up ahead of the official opening on Saturday 2 April.

ATE is Tourism Australia’s premier tourism trade event to present the diversity of Australia’s tourism businesses to the international travel trade, and will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) from 2 to 8 April.

Today is the first daily summary of news stories from Australian suppliers available to media registered for ATE 2011. Starting today a daily alert will be sent to media until Friday 8 April 2011, provided new news is supplied.

ATE 2011 will begin with the Eastern Hemisphere module (Japan, Asia and the Gulf countries) from 2 to 4 April while the Western Hemisphere module (Europe, the Americas, Africa, New Zealand and the South Pacific) will run from 4 April to 8 April 2011.

The event provides a forum for Australian tourism businesses such as hotels, airlines, tour companies and transport providers to meet with international wholesalers and retailers from around the world to showcase their products to the global distribution network and negotiate deals.

This year around 1,700 Australian seller delegates from approximately 600 companies will be participating in the event.

Held annually, ATE is staged in a different host city each year, with the support of the State and Territory tourism partners and Qantas Airways. This year ATE is being hosted by Tourism New South Wales.
