Cotton Bay Village, Saint Lucias only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is delighted to announce the appointment of Camilla Guyatt as general manager. Taking up the reins from predecessor Kevin Snaggs on 14 December, Camilla will drive the continued refinement and enhancement of the unique Cotton Bay Village experience, capitalising on the dramatic improvements achieved since Cotton Clubs took over the management of the resort in 2008 whilst adding that all-important feminine touch.
Camilla cut her teeth in the world of hotel management as duty manager at the prestigious Gidleigh Park in Devon, before returning to the UK as assistant manager at Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells after two years at Waterloo House in Bermuda. After gaining further experience in demanding urban markets with management roles at The Panoramic in London and with Edinburghs Royal Scotsman Train, Camilla made the step up to general manager at the renowned Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall. Under her highly successful two and a half year stewardship, overall net profits increased by 17.5 per cent and the hotel achieved its highest ever placing in the Best Leisure Hotel UK category of Conde Nast Travellers Readers Travel Awards, finishing runner up for two consecutive years, behind only The Ritz and Gleneagles.
After a year as Director of Rooms at Hertfordshires The Grove, during which time she developed, opened and managed the hotels award-winning, OFSTED-regulated crche and staff nursery Anouskas, Camilla returned to the Caribbean in 2005 with Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands. After an initial spell overhauling the resorts housekeeping department, Camilla became staff welfare manager, developing a new staff village and implementing enhanced welfare programmes for 320 staff. In December 2008 Camilla joined the executive management team as development project manager, overseeing the development of three new US$12 million villas from construction through to sale and handover while managing the development of the existing resort.
Says Camilla, Cotton Bay Village provides irresistible opportunity for me in several ways. The chance to build on a great product by refining and polishing the guest experience, clever market placement to move the business forward, a young and enthusiastic team to lead and of course the opportunity to live and work on the beautiful island of Saint Lucia. Cotton Bay Village will be my home and I look forward to ensuring our guests feel it is their home too.
On Saint Lucias serene East coast, set on a wide crescent of golden sand and lapped by the gently rolling turquoise of the Atlantic, Cotton Bay Village (www.cottonbayvillage.com) is an exclusive enclave of stylish villas and residences offering the ultimate in laid-back elegance, world-class destination resort facilities, and exceptional levels of service; a cool Caribbean cocktail of private villas and a world-class destination resort, served in a tropical village setting.
