UK's largest holiday cottage provider launches Teenager Approved range with support of those in the know

Following the success of its Baby & Toddler range of holiday properties, cottages4you is trialling a range of teenage friendly properties to help families of all ages have a harmonious holiday.

Aimed at families which include those aged 11 to 17, the Teenager Approved properties involved in the trial all offer a range of facilities aimed at this age group, following focus groups held with young people.

The research conducted by the UK's largest holiday cottage provider revealed, perhaps unsurprisingly, that 44 per cent of 11-17 year olds don't feel that their parents want the same things they do on a holiday with 36 per cent claiming holidaying with their family was boring. One in five (20 per cent) even went so far as to say they dread going away with their mums and dads, with girls twice as likely to feel that way compared to boys.

Teenagers were asked what makes a holiday appeal to them and some of the key elements were revealed to be having their own bedroom (80 per cent) or their own space to relax (45 per cent) and having interesting things to do nearby (68 per cent). The most important ingredient, however, was having plenty to do at the accommodation to keep them entertained, with 84 per cent ranking this as important.

The new Teenager Approved range all include several of the property attributes rated most important by the focus groups, which were a swimming pool, games room, WiFi, outdoor space and satellite TV. Many of the properties also have a computer console, which also ranked highly, and outdoor space which the group thought was important for enjoying the sunshine, riding a bike or scooter, kicking a football or cooking up a barbecue.
