A Cornish holiday park has unveiled a new £180,000 investment called The Splash Zone.
It provides a new space within the existing swimming pool complex at Trevornick, where young (and the young at heart!) guests can run, jump, play and splash.
The Splash Zone contains two tipping buckets, fountains, water jets, and a raised trickle stream, making it perfect for babies, toddlers, non-swimmers and those unable to access the pool itself.
General manager Adrian Tribe said: “We are so thrilled to have opened The Splash Zone after weeks of hard work by all involved to bring it to completion. We had a good year in 2021 and re-investing that success back into the park will be great for the guests and for us. It's a brilliant new addition to the resort and we can't wait to see the guests really making the most of it this summer.”
The new development in Holywell Bay, near Newquay, also includes an extended sun terrace where parents can relax and watch, while the kids get wet. There is also a dedicated area for regular visiting street food vendors, including Sea Bean Coffee and Cocktails, where visitors can grab a pina colada or Mermaid Mojito whilst soaking up the sun.
The Splash Zone was developed in response to customer feedback in 2021, with many saying they would love a bigger area to lounge and sunbathe around the pool.
Combined with a bumper year of bookings following the previous disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, the business was able to invest heavily to build The Splash Zone to delight both returning and new guests this summer.
Notes for Editors
• Trevornick was originally a Cornish farm that welcomed the occasional Scout group to use its land for their jamborees. It was acquired in 1963 by the Hartley family, who immediately spotted its potential and opened it as a campsite to paying guests.
• Today, Trevornick is still owned and managed by the Hartley family (now in their second generation), who continue to develop the site according to their vision for a modern 5* facility for fun family holidays.
• Trevornick welcomes a wide range of holiday-makers, thanks to a well curated mix of accommodation styles with over 600 camping and touring pitches alongside its other accommodation offerings, made up of approximately 30 static caravans, 20 luxury lodges, 40 ready Tents and 3 cottages and welcomes around 25,000 guests per year.
• Trevornick has been graded 5 stars by Visit England and 5 pennants by The AA in 2022.
