The five-star Corinthia Hotel St George's Bay, in Malta, is a featured location in this year's highly anticipated Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2016, making its debut across print, digital, social, video and more on 15 February 2016.
Shot by renowned photographer Ben Watts, the models featured in the Malta shoot are: Kate Bock, Samantha Hoopes, Robyn Lawley, Tanya Mityushina and Kelly Rohrbach.
Located on a headland on the water's edge, boasting panoramic views over the sparkling Mediterranean, the five-star Corinthia St George's Bay was selected by SI Swimsuit editors to host the shoot. A standout feature of the hotel is its famous Lido – a large and distinctive cascading outdoor pool complex, flowing all the way down from the hotel level to the private beach lido, offering a wide range of water sports, including a fully licensed Professional Association of Diving Instructors diving school.
Located in the culturally and historically vibrant St Julian's, Corinthia St George's Bay was built around one of the thirteen 17th century watch-towers. The village of St Julian's was established initially as a fishing village, which later became a summer residence for wealthy locals and has now developed into one of the island's mostly sought after resorts for nightlife and entertainment. The town still retains some of its' old dwellings and boat houses.
The iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit franchise reaches more than 70 million U.S. adults annually and spans more than 20 product extensions along with a vibrant experiential marketing business. Since debuting in 1964 Swimsuit has become a pop-culture phenomenon and a revered launching pad for successful careers in TV, fashion, business and film including those of Kathy Ireland, Cheryl Tiegs, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Kate Upton, and Chrissy Teigen.
Ben Watts was born in London, England studied photography in Sydney, Australia and is currently based in New York. He is a regular contributor to numerous magazines including New York Times Magazine, GQ, Interview, Lucky, Rolling Stone, Esquire, Elle, French Elle, French Glamour, Glamour US and Tokion. His work has also been published in Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Outside Magazine, Travel + Leisure, and Conde Nast Traveler, among others. Besides his work for international magazines, Watts has shot advertising campaigns for clientele, such as Polo Ralph Lauren, The Gap, Kodak, Sony Music and Apple.
