Construction of The Ritz-Carlton, Perth is progressing quickly, with a quarter of the construction process complete. On track to open in mid-2019, The Ritz-Carlton, Perth marks the re-entry of the luxury hotel operator into Australia and will further boost the growing international appeal of the city.
Owned by multinational developer, Far East Consortium, The Ritz-Carlton, Perth will be a prominent anchor point within Perth's Elizabeth Quay development. Sitting just 30 metres from the waterfront, the 205-room hotel will occupy a 28-storey tower, which will also include a selection of impressive residential apartments. The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, together with The Towers at Elizabeth Quay, an upscale residential development located beside the hotel, will sit atop exclusive retail space, fine-dining experiences, and waterfront access. This AUD$500 million project, being built by national construction company, Probuild, is expected to create 1,200 jobs in Perth.
“We are thrilled to confirm that construction of The Ritz-Carlton, Perth is not only well underway, but ahead of schedule,” said Richard Crawford, Senior Director of Development, Marriott International, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. “When the hotel opens, it will set a new benchmark for luxury accommodations in Perth and across Australia, at a time when the city's proximity to many destinations in Asia sees it fast becoming an important business-hub and gateway leisure destination. We see Perth becoming a prime location for luxury hotels over the next ten years.”
A gateway to Perth's Central Business District, Elizabeth Quay is the centre-piece of Perth's drive to solidify its position as an international and contemporary destination for the global, affluent traveller, featuring a vibrant mix of commercial, residential, retail and entertainment offerings. More than 6.6 million people have visited the quay since it opened in December 2016, and it is estimated to boost tourism expenditure in Western Australia by a total of AUD$348 million by 2025 – 26*.
Tourism Minister of Western Australia, Paul Papalia, said the construction of The Ritz-Carlton, Perth was a considerable vote of confidence for Perth and would be a welcome addition to the city's growing high-end accommodation sector.
“Perth remains the gateway to Australia from Asia, and the superior Ritz-Carlton brand will act as another significant drawcard to Western Australia.
“Now, more than ever, there is so much to see and do in Perth with access to stunning beaches, wineries and native wildlife all within an hour of the city centre.”
Both the hotel's guestrooms and public spaces will embody the design philosophy of The Ritz-Carlton brand, while also incorporating the region's natural resources through use of materials such as locally-mined stones and precious metals. Each of the hotel's 205 guestrooms, including 18 suites and one Ritz-Carlton Suite, will be understated and refined, designed to ensure the utmost comfort and satisfaction of the most discerning guests. Standard rooms will be 50 square metres on average in size, while the suites will range from 103 to 277 square metres. Throughout, guests will be treated to stunning views of the Swan River and Perth city skyline.
The Ritz-Carlton, Perth will also offer guests world-class amenities, including four distinctive restaurants and bars. The hotel is also ideally positioned to accommodate conference and meeting space demand in the city with 2,000 square metres of conference space, including a spacious 572 square metre ballroom fitted with the latest AV technology. Other facilities at the hotel include a Fitness Centre, which offers a gym, spa, and outdoor infinity swimming pool, while an open-roof courtyard with tropical, landscaped gardens creates a resort feel in a bustling city.
“With both the basement and podium construction in progress and the project ahead of schedule, we are well underway to seeing this stunning hotel come to life,” said David Chiu, Chairman, Far East Consortium. “We are looking forward to working closely with Marriott International and Probuild to ensure The Ritz-Carlton, Perth opens on time and to the highest standard.”
