G&V Royal Mile Hotel, Lochgreen House Hotel and Fasque Castle Join Luxury Hotel Collection

     Edinburgh, Scotland (September 2015) – Connoisseurs Scotland, a collection of luxury hotels located throughout Scotland, is pleased to announce three new members, the G&V Royal Mile Hotel in Edinburgh, Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon, and Fasque Castle in Aberdeenshire. The addition of these three hotels brings Connoisseurs Scotland's total membership to 30 properties.

    The G&V Royal Mile Hotel's name is an abbreviation for “George & Victoria,” a nod to both the area's royal heritage and the hotel's prime location in the heart of Edinburgh, on the corner of the George IV Bridge, Victoria Street and the famed Royal Mile. The hotel is part of the Quorvus Collection, a luxury hotel division of Carlson Rezidor. Formerly Edinburgh's award-winning Missoni hotel, the G&V has been completely rebranded and its Italian-influenced décor replaced by a much more Scottish vibe. The G&V boasts 136 guest rooms, some of which offer the most commanding views of the city; selections include four suites, two of which are named, appropriately enough, George and Victoria. The hotel's award-winning restaurant, Cucina, will continue to serve the Italian fare for which it is justly famous, and its bright and lively bar still attracts visitors and locals alike.     In a completely different setting – one that overlooks Royal Troon Championship Golf Course on the country's west coast – visitors will find Lochgreen House Hotel. And like the golf course, the hotel offers views over the Ayrshire coast and the island of Arran. This spacious country house hotel is set on 30 acres of woodlands and gardens, making it the ideal place for a romantic retreat. But Lochgreen House is also a stunning setting for business meetings and conferences; golf getaways; or weddings, balls and other private functions. The hotel's 32 guest rooms are decorated with traditional furnishings and fabrics, a design decision that captures the special character of this historic house. The hotel is also home to an award-winning dining scene in which Lochgreen's owners, master chef Bill Costley and his youngest son, Andrew, make clever use of Ayrshire's produce. The chefs' company motto, depicted on the entrance gates to Lochgreen House, is “Ad Virtutem Nitens,” which translates to “the pursuit of excellence” – something they strive for in their kitchens and throughout the entire property.

     No visit to Scotland is complete without a stop at a castle, and Connoisseurs Scotland has just added another to its family. Fasque Castle is an exclusive-use venue, making it the ideal location for everything from weddings to corporate retreats. Fasque Castle is an early 19th-century building located on a 400-acre country estate. It features 19 bedrooms, a great hall, a spacious drawing room, intimate dining room and even a cozy library. The venue can accommodate up to 150 guests for special events. The grounds are home to a variety of Scottish wildlife, including deer, otters, eagles and red squirrels; guests are encouraged to stroll the property, exploring its woods, riverbanks, fields and walled garden. The estate even features its own house of worship, a 150-year-old Episcopalian church located at the end of the beech-lined “Wedding Walk”; though it has an active congregation, the 100-seat church can be reserved for weddings.
