Connoisseurs Scotland Hotels Present "Golf and Castles, Whisky and Water" Itinerary

Luxury Scotland

In support of the "Year of Natural Scotland," Connoisseurs Scotland, Little's Chauffeur Drive and member properties have assembled 15 touring itineraries - including the new "Golf and Castles, Whisky and Water" program - that allow visitors to discover Scotland's outstanding natural beauty by day and enjoy the country's most deluxe accommodations by night. The "Golf and Castles, Whisky and Water" itinerary is a six-day, five-night program hosted by two luxurious hotels, the Old Course Golf Resort and Spa in St. Andrews and The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa in Aberdeen. Costs for the trip start at £2,430 ($3,935.79 US)* per couple with a rental car (a Mercedes E-Class or Jaguar XF) or £4,420 ($7,158.65 US)* for a fully chauffeur-escorted tour. The itinerary features a variety of options (additional costs apply) that allow guests to customize their experiences.

The tour begins with arrival at the five-star Old Course Golf Resort and Spa in St. Andrews for a two-night stay. Bordering the 17th "Road Hole" of the world's most famous golf course, the 144-bedroom resort features the city's only heathland golf course, The Duke's, and is home to the first Kohler spa experience outside the United States. Old Course offers guests six distinct dining options, from its famed afternoon tea menu to the 3 AA Rosettes-rated Road Hole Restaurant. The Road Hole Bar boasts a selection of more than 300 whiskies representing every operational distillery in Scotland. While visiting the resort, guests can participate in a guided walking tour of the town of St. Andrews or take their chauffeur-driven car to visit picturesque fishing villages. Additional highlights here include the ruins of St. Andrews Castle and Cathedral, the British Golf Museum, Eden Estuary Nature Reserve, St. Andrews Botanic Garden and the Fife Coastal Path.

On the third day of the itinerary, visitors travel the 80 miles to The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, Aberdeen's only five-star hotel, for a three-night stay. Situated on 11 acres of beautifully wooded grounds, the luxury country property features 35 rooms, seven suites and four dining areas. Guests can enjoy a selection of more than 400 wines and 150 malt whiskies. Experience options here include a private Aberdeenshire helicopter flight, salmon or sea trout fishing, a coast and castle tour, and a private chauffeur-driven tour of the Speyside distilleries. Other pursuits that guests can enjoy during their stay range from game shooting and stalking to spending time in the hotel's health and beauty spa.

On the final day of this itinerary, guests depart the resort and make the short 20-minute journey to Aberdeen Airport or the 10-minute trip to the rail station. Additional information about this tour can be found at www.luxuryscotland.info; booking any of the tours offered by Connoisseurs Scotland can be completed via e-mail to Little's using luxury@littles.co.uk.
