Congham Hall Launches Gourmet Break to Help Take the Chill Off Winter

Congham Hall Hotel

Norfolk: Congham Hall Hotel (www.conghamhallhotel.co.uk; 01485 600250) is embracing the chilly days of November with a special gourmet break.

Congham's team is already at work gathering logs for the open fires to create a cosy retreat as the nights draw in. Meanwhile, the chef has been cooking up some delicious winter warmers for a “Gourmet Midweek Treat”, a special deal that will be available throughout November.

The highlight of the two-night stay will be a five-course tasting menu served on one night in the hotel's 2 AA Rosette restaurant. Delicious dishes such as pot-roasted local partridge, pommes Anna, garden black kale, pumpkin and pomegranate, will feature on this special menu.

The wine list will also see some interesting new additions, such as Côtes du Rhône Blanc, La Petite Polissonne Val de Garrigue 2012, a delicious complement to the earthy flavours of one of the new seasonal dishes on the a la carte menu – pan-roasted rainbow trout, sweet potato purée, garden beetroot, pickled carrot, radish and sprouting broccoli.

Congham Hall also puts guests on the doorstep of some beautiful coast and countryside for bracing walks, even offering Dubarry boots for guests to borrow. A selection of downloadable walking routes is available at www.conghamhallhotel.co.uk/interesting-walks-in-norfolk/.

The two-night Gourmet Midweek Treat costs just £420 for two people, including accommodation in a house room, full English breakfast on both mornings, the five-course tasting menu on the first evening and a dinner from the three-course à la carte menu on the second night. Available Monday to Thursday throughout November 2015. Early bookers will snap up the best rooms. Garden Rooms are available at a £50 supplement. Quote “Gourmet Midweek Treat”.

Relaunched in May 2013, the 26-room Congham Hall Hotel sits in 30 acres of parkland, including orchards and its renowned Herb Garden, which has 400-plus varieties and attracts visitors from far and wide. The modernised, 2 AA Rosette, bistro-style restaurant features much homegrown produce on its menu, and now benefits from a sophisticated new bar.

Congham Hall offers five-star service at three-star prices, in stylish but relaxed surroundings. The hotel won Best Small Hotel in the UK at the International Hotel Awards in November 2012 and Best Independent Hotel at the Eastern Daily Press/VisitNorfolk.co.uk Tourism Awards in November 2013.

Nicholas Dickinson and his team took over Congham Hall in March 2012. The hotel relaunched in May 2013 after completing the last phase of a major refurbishment. Nicholas has spent his entire working life in the luxury hotel business. Early on, he worked at the five-star country-house hotel Chewton Glen and Raymond Blanc's two-Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons. In 1994, Nicholas formed a partnership with Nigel Chapman, who had developed Woolley Grange in Wiltshire. Together, they created Luxury Family Hotels, which soon became the market leader in the UK for luxury family short breaks, and Alias Hotels, for the stylish mid-market corporate and leisure sectors. Both groups were successfully sold and Nicholas and Nigel went on to develop Martinhal Resort on Portugal's Algarve. This is Nicholas's first independent hotel project.
