Lights Out at Four Seasons Hotel, Shanghai 26 Mar 2009
Coming Together As One In Darkness...

Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai

SHANGHAI, 4th March, 2009 Perhaps not as kinky as youd think but in this context, we really meant coming together as one in darkness for the love of our planet earth.

Saturday, March 26th marks the third Earth Hour an initiative originally conceived by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 to raise awareness on our diminishing environment.

Last year, the move saw over twenty properties within Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts from across the world turning off lights in its restaurants and serving dinner by candlelight for an hour. This year, the project will see almost all 83 properties worldwide partaking in the cause.

At Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai, we have chosen to up the ante and go the whole hog. Apart from a 4-course all-natural and organic dinner menu at Steak House served over candlelight, diners can also enjoy a selection of specially imported organic wine from Burklin Wolf, in the region of Pfaltz in Germany where wines are still harvested and produced using non-mechanical techniques.

Guests staying in the property during the week of 23rd through 29th March will also be reminded and encouraged to do their part in protecting our environment. As soon as they are ushered to the room, a pot of hot organic tea will be served with Chinese petit fours. All guestrooms will receive a fresh bowl of organic green apples and refreshed daily with the same. When asking for laundry service, guests could choose to have laundry cleaned and returned without a plastic protective sheet. While on the subject of laundry, our guests will also be encouraged to reuse bath towels and bed linen. When checking out, guests will be offered an option of having a copy of the bill sent to them via electronic mail. And of course, there will be gentle reminders to our guests to turn off lighting and air-conditioning when they leave the room.

Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts is fully committed to this WWF worldwide crusade of raising awareness on environmental issues but while in doing so will not compromise the level of comfort our guests have grown accustomed to with the brand.
