Visit Cambridge & Beyond

It's a little known fact that members of the public can book student accommodation out of term times (from as little as £34 per person per night) at some of the famous Cambridge University colleges (including King's, Christ's, Magdalene,  St John's, Clare, Trinity Hall and Corpus Christi), and enjoy a rare glimpse into elitest student life in this beautiful and historic, world-renowned setting.

Visitors can check their bags into the Porter's Lodge before enjoying a drink in the college bar, a meal in the traditional dining room and a stroll in the beautifully maintained college gardens.

For Example:

STAY AT THE WORLD-FAMOUS KING'S COLLEGE

Follow in the footsteps of some of King's famous and diverse college alumni, including poet John Keats, novelists Thomas Hardy, W Somerset Maugham and Virginia Wolf, comedian David Baddiel, supermodel Lily Cole and Britain's first Prime Minister, Robert Walpole.

Founded in 1441 by King Henry VI, it took some 100 years to complete the magnificent buildings which boast a prime location in the very heart of Cambridge and the University district, with stunning views and gardens over the famous 'backs' and beyond.

Single and double ensuite accommodation is offered to guests at the recently refurbished Benet Street site. Guests are also given free admission to the gardens and magnificent chapel where King's world- famous carol service, Carols From King's - sung by the King's College Choir – is recorded and broadcast every Christmas Eve.

Refreshments are also served in the traditional splendour of Chetwynd Court.

STAY AT CLARE COLLEGE

Clare's celebrated alumni include naturalist Sir David Attenborough, broadcaster Matthew Parris and lyricist Richard Stilgoe.

Founded in 1326 Clare College is Cambridge's second oldest college, boasting 17th century architecture and stunning riverside gardens, with a location just five minutes' walk from the centre of Cambridge.

Single and twin room student accommodation, with either ensuite or shared bathrooms, is available at the college's Memorial Court and Chesterton Lane sites. Visitors register at the appropriate Porter's Lodge, where a room key or access card will be issued for the duration of their stay.

For guests staying at Memorial Court, a full English breakfast is served in Old Court Buttery - a self-service student cafeteria located in the oldest part of college.  Continental breakfast is available on site for guests staying at Chesterton Lane. Clare College gardens are some of the most admired in Cambridge; all bed and breakfast guests are welcome to enjoy them free of charge.
