Colorado Tourism Office today announced the launch of its Year of Summer Adventure at World Travel Market in London. The campaign will highlight both soft and hard adventure from the months of May to September 2017, and will overarch all activities across the UK and Ireland next year.

Adventure comes in all forms in Colorado; from the soft adventure of hot springs and hiking to myriad of hard adventure offerings, such as canyoning in Ouray, white water rafting the Arkansas or Colorado River, and ziplining the 400ft deep South Cheyenne Canyon in Colorado Springs; as well as everything in between. New cycle trails have recently opened, including the I-70 bike path that now links Denver International Airport to Glenwood Springs.

The Year of Summer Adventure in 2017 hopes to increase the record 77.7 million visitors who came to Colorado in 2015 and will focus on both new and existing activities across the state – all with the aim of creating an unforgettable holiday for those who visit and bringing travellers 'to life'.

Cathy Ritter, Director of Colorado Tourism Office, said, “The winter season in Colorado is well known by international visitors, but we've yet to maximise on our spring and summer offerings. What many travellers don't realise is that an incredible ski slope in winter becomes a world-class mountain biking route in summer; or that hot springs are just as delightful in the warm sun, and that the great outdoors of our state comes alive as the snow melt makes for thrilling white water rapids and that the landscape blooms with wildflowers – scenery perfect for a hike, cycle, kayak, canyoning or Zipline adventure.”

Colorado offers unparalleled adventure and recreational activities, an abundant arts scene, Western heritage, distinctive cuisine and 25 renowned ski resort areas – which double as cycling routes in the spring and summer. The state's scenic landscape boasts natural hot springs, the headwaters of four major rivers, numerous peaceful lakes and reservoirs, 11 national parks and monuments and 58 mountain peaks that top 14,000 feet, known as 'Fourteeners'.
