New York, May 18th, 2023. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and ProColombia, the promotion agency of the country, recently produced a six-part series that portrays the beauty of Colombia through the eyes of a foreigner who is experiencing everything firsthand. The show is being launched and featured this week —and until Sunday— on the big screens of Times Square, New York City.
"For us, to showcase our cultural richness on the most popular screens in the world is of great significance; we want American visitors to learn more about the meaningful travel experiences our territories can offer them,” said Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia.
Finding Encanto explores the deep and hidden treasures across vast Colombia. Travelers can discover, both virtually and on-site, unique excursions in each region. For example, out-of-the-ordinary music rhythms are found throughout The Greater Colombian Caribbean, along with indigenous and Raizal cultures and carnivals through the experience of British DJ Olliver Williams 'The Busy Twist'.
A trip through The Western Colombian Andes, along with Adry del Rocio, a Mexican muralist, guarantees a scoop into the Coffee Cultural Landscape and modern cities such as Medellín: the city of Botero, the silletera culture, and Colombia's fashion capital. Wandering around The Colombian Pacific, just like chef Selassie does during the Finding Encanto Youtube series, gives travelers an insight into the authentic flavors in this jungle right next to the sea.
The Eastern Colombian Andes is where globetrotters like María Solis, founder of 'Latinos Run,' find a land of peaks, moors, valleys, and impressive Natural Parks. For those intrepid foreigners who enjoy the stories of ancient civilizations, and archaeological parks, like Spanish writer Gabi Martínez, there is The Colombian Massif. And, finally, the unparalleled biodiversity of the country can be witnessed across The Colombian Amazon-Orinoco through the lens of Andy Austin, a world-renowned wildlife photographer.
With all this diversity of regions, culture, and nature, there is no wonder why the tourism industry in Colombia is blossoming, As a matter of fact, this country has already recovered its tourism sector after the pandemic a 100%, and it has become the predilect destination for Americans in South America.
"Colombia has it all: the beaches, the jungles, the deserts, the snow-capped mountains, the cities, the colorful rivers. Do not hesitate: our six regions are closer than you think, waiting to be discovered”, concluded Caballero.
