Cornwall's ultimate coastal obstacle course is inviting families of all ages to enjoy the grittiest weekend of their lives next month (Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th).

'Holy Grit', based at the five star Trevornick Holiday Park near Newquay features leg-destroying sand dunes, towering sea cliffs and more than 30 challenging obstacles.

This year's event also sees the return of the 'Kids' Crusade Course' aimed specifically at younger participants.

Children aged from five to 15 can take part in either 1.5km or 3km courses featuring 'Holy Grit' inspired obstacles.

There are three separate age categories – 5-8, 9-12 and 13-15 – all setting off at different times and parents and guardians can join their 'Little Gritters' on the course.

“We were delighted by how popular the children's event was last year and so we decided to try and make it even bigger and better this time around,” said Jack Barrett, Holy Grit founder.

“We love the fact Holy Grit appeals to competitors of all ages and think it's really important the kids can have their own event to take part in.

“Kids Crusade has its own set of challenging obstacles to overcome which are all based on those which have become so popular and infamous on the main Holy Grit course.

“It's the perfect way for the whole family to really get involved and enjoy shared experiences filled with mud, grit and cheers!” he added.

All entrants will receive a Holy Grit medal and be able to enjoy a free hot shower at the end to wash off all the grime.

There are great value camping packages available so competitors can enjoy a whole weekend of fun with coastal terrain challenges across sand dunes, beaches and sea cliffs, bouncy castles, music, surf lessons, hot showers and the famous after party celebrations.

Last year's event attracted more than 500 competitors in total and organisers are expecting this year's race to be just as popular.
