Chi Heng Foundation

To coincide with Accor�s support for Chi Heng Foundation, Novotel Century Hong Kong has joined with CHF for �Giving Children A Future� Charity Campaign. All proceeds will be donated to support children in China affected by AIDS. Representatives from the Hotel and CHF kicked off the Campaign and delivered Christmas blessing to children on starfish cards at the hotel lobby on 16 December 2009.

The Story of Starfish: An old man was taking a walk with his granddaughter on the beach on a beautiful evening. The picture perfect scenery warmed by the setting sun was spoilt by the thousands of starfish that were washed up by the sea and dying on the beach. The old man picked one up and threw it back. His granddaughter was curious: "Why did you do that, grandpa? There are so many!"

Her grandpa picked up another starfish and threw it into the water: "To us, this is merely one in many thousands, but to the starfish itself, this is its everything�* The starfish card is drawn by aids impacted children from Henan and Anhui.

Hotel guests and patrons can support this program in the following 3 ways: 1. Four Christmas trees at the hotel are decorated with starfish-shape cards. Guest can deliver a Christmas blessing to these children in China on a starfish and to put on the tree; 2. Purchase calendar 2010 designed by Chi Heng Foundation at HK$50; or 3. Purchase a drawing by these children at HK$1000. Each drawing has a theme and a story behind.

The tragedy of the AIDS epidemic through blood selling in Central China has touched the hearts of many and motivated us to begin the Orphans Project. Sometimes, the suffering of the many thousands of orphans impacted by AIDS seemed overwhelming and their problems insurmountable, but we are always inspired by the story of the starfish and the courage of the children to go on. To each and every child we reach out to help, our efforts could be his everything.*

�Giving Children A Future� Charity Campaign is in line with Accor Hotel Group which supports Chi Heng Foundation for the social sustainable program in China.
