Have a healthy Christmas or New Year in the hills of Monchique in the Algarve, Portugal.  Longevity Wellness Resort has introduced two-day Christmas and New Year breaks with a healthy twist.

During their stay guests can take part in a range of complimentary wellness activities to leave them feeling invigorated at the end of the festivities.  These include long power walks in the Monchique mountains, healthy cooking workshops, yoga, stretching, Pilates and fitness classes as well as an osteopathy workshop.  There is also a heated indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and gym.  The Christmas and New Year breaks also include a 10% discount on all spa treatments.

The resort has teamed up with a local guide to take guests on a guided three hour walk along the Monchique mountain trails to a hidden waterfall at Barbelote (15 Euros per person) or guests can choose a 4 x 4 tour of the Park of Costa Vicentina, taking in the rugged landscape from Sagres to Cape of Sao Vicente.   The spectacular coastline features steep rocks interrupted by small sandy bays and a swell from the Atlantic that attracts surfers and paragliders. The resort’s chef Jan Stechemesser has designed healthy Christmas  and New Year menus,  which are still delicious and festive, but less onerous on the waistline.

The two-day Christmas offer includes a four course Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, in the European tradition and a brunch on Christmas Day. The price starts from £247 per person for two nights based on two people sharing and includes breakfast and selected meals with drinks.

The New Year offer includes a five course New Year’s Eve dinner with live music and brunch on New Year’s Day.  The price starts from £260 per person for two nights based on two people sharing and includes breakfast and selected meals with drinks.
