Chris Tarrant fishes for Gold in Canada's Yukon Territory with world class fishing guide and friend, John Horsey
Channel 5, November 15th at 7.00 pm
Popular British television personality, Chris Tarrant kicks of a new Channel 5, 4 part fishing series starting on Friday November 1st at 7.00 pm. The third programme in the series , airing on Friday November 15th is scheduled to showcase Chris in the Yukon.
Chris, John and the crew flew to Whitehorse and filmed there. They stayed at the remote Kluane Lake Lodge, where the only access is by floatplane. Wellesley Lake (the finest and most productive lake on the North American continent) produced world class fly and lure fishing action even with bright sunshine and temperatures into the late 20's. Lodge Owner, Brian Dack, a keen angler himself and local guide provided expert advice and even had time to catch too.
They fished and they caught! Northern Pike were caught on a fly and with surface lures, whilst acrobatic Whitefish were caught on dry flies. Pristine lake char hit streamer flies with aggression. Perhaps the star of the show was the huge lake char caught (and released) using rubber jigs. John Horsey also caught a rather unique species of Burbot (extinct in the UK).
The Yukons mighty and majestic scenery plays spectacular host to Chris Tarrant and friends. A perfect antitode to a cold Autumn evening.
To recreate this fishing experience for yourself you would need to fish in July and August, a short season. Martin Founds of Anglers World holidays is escorting a small select group departing June 26th, 2014. 9 Days , with 6 days fishing full board (includes private float plane flight) at a cost of £3115 pp (excludes flight from UK to Whitehorse).
