'Chocolate at the Pen' Celebrates a 'Decade of Decadence'

This year, The Peninsula Chicago celebrates the 10th year anniversary of 'Chocolate at The Pen.' The 'Decade of Decadence' introduces a new experience for guests – the addition of an exclusive Chocolate Sommelier. Well-known as Chicago's premier 'Chocolate Bar' in The Peninsula's Lobby every Friday and Saturday evening from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am, Executive Pastry Chef and Chocolate Sommelier Dimitri Fayard offers guests a veritable buffet feast of elegant bite-sized chocolate desserts and morsels.


Each weekend, chocolate lovers can rejoice in white, milk, dark and extra dark chocolate with cinnamon, cayenne and vanilla sugar spices, while the Chocolate Sommelier concocts your unique confection. Executed while the guest waits, the chocolate is melted in a miniature copper pot. Adding different spices or a dash of Grand Marnier or Kahlúa to the fondue, each guest can have a very own personalized delicious chocolate experience at The Peninsula Chicago.


The Chocolate Bar items vary weekly and include such items as Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit Tart, Pistachio Orange Entrement, White Chocolate Pineapple Petite Gateaux, Tiramisu Bar, German Chocolate Verrine, Mint Chocolate Verrine, Caramel Religieus, Dipped Brownies, Chocolate Éclair, Triple Chocolate Mousse, Praline Cookie Crunch Bar, White Chocolate Raspberry Verrine, assorted Macarons and more.


The weekly event promises “chocolate-y” satisfaction for those looking for a little night-time indulgence or for those who want the perfect accompaniment to a guitar duo performing music from contemporary musicians including: Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, The Beatles, Taylor Swift and more from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am.


'CHOCOLATE AT THE PEN' CELEBRATES A DECADE OF DECADENCE


“Chocolate at The Pen” is US$ 40 per person (US$ 12 for children under 12), and includes a selection of petite chocolate delicacies. For just US$ 50, guests can indulge in the full Chocolate Bar and receive a delicious chocolate martini or a glass of sparkling wine. For those having dinner in The Lobby, guests may add Chocolate Bar for dessert for US$ 20 per person.
Dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 pm until 10:00 pm, and Friday through Saturday from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The Chocolate Bar is available Friday and Saturday from 9:00 pm until 12:00 am. Due to the popularity of “Chocolate at The Pen,” reservations are recommended and are accepted for 9:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
