Chimu Adventures Honoured by McGrath Foundation and Prime Minister at Kirribilli House

Chimu Adventures

Chimu Adventures Director, Greg Carter and Marketing Manager, Meg Hall were honoured to be selected from thousands of fundraisers across the nation to be invited to Kirribilli House last Friday the 9th of October with the new Australian Prime Minister, the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull and Mrs Lucy Turnbull A.O. The function was held for the McGrath 10 year anniversary and the invitation was in recognition for the fundraising efforts Chimu Adventures are undertaking for the McGrath foundation with their bespoke fundraising journey to Antarctica 'PinKtarctica'. Next Month Greg will join Tracy Bevan, McGrath Foundation Co-founder on a journey to Antarctica where every berth sold benefits the foundation.

The event marked an opportunity for McGrath Foundation President & Co-founder, Glenn McGrath to personally recognise and celebrate the amazing efforts of some of the McGrath Foundation's biggest supporters over the past ten years.

“Over the past decade we have placed 105 McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia but this would not have been possible without the unwavering support of incredible individuals and communities. It's an honour to be able to recognise just some of these amazing people in such a special setting as Kirribilli House with the Prime Minister,” McGrath said.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses are at the heart of what they do at the McGrath Foundation. To date they've helped to support over 36,000 families in Australia experiencing breast cancer by providing invaluable physical, psychological and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.

“This would not have been possible without the support of people like Greg Carter and Meg Hall and Chad Carey from Chimu Adventures and we thank them and the rest of Australia for their commitment,” said Petra Buchanan, McGrath Foundation CEO.

Chimu Adventures launched the sale of PinKtarctica back in early 2014 and have taken to the streets with the McGrath message ever since. The journey is now sold out and is waitlist only.

“We truly feel honoured to have been chosen to attend such a prestigious event, it really makes all the hard work we have put in over the past 18 months worth it. We've been making a noise about our up and coming voyage and encouraging people to throw caution to the wind and join us in taking the McGrath Foundation cause to the end of the earth, and we have done so successfully.” Said Greg Carter, Chimu Adventures Co-director and founder.

It is because of the extensive work in fundraising at Chimu Adventures that key members of the Chimu Adventure's directorship and management including Greg Carter, Chad Carey and Meg Hall recently launched Make A Difference Project, or 'MAD Project' as it has become known, to further spearhead initiatives such as PinKtarctica and stretch their philanthropic capabilities further.

“It's equally one of the most rewarding and nail biting aspects of my job, initiatives like this are no small undertaking, they are truly M.A.D in every sense of the word, we all lose sleep over logistics and outcomes but knowing that the loss of sleep has huge benefits for people truly in need is completely worth it and incredibly satisfying. We're looking forward to supporting even more causes alongside our new M.A.D project brand going forward.” Said Meg Hall Marketing Manager of Chimu Adventures and Co-director of the MAD project.
