London, 23 May 2018 – BBC Radio 2 is teaming up with 'Children of the 80's', Ibiza's weekly nostalgic event, to broadcast 'Sounds of the 80s' live from Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza on Friday 29 June, from 9pm to midnight.

Presenter Gary Davies will host the show and introduce a stellar line up of performances from Tony Hadley, former member of Spandau Ballet, Carol Decker of T'Pau, The Fizz and Bonnie Tyler on the hotel's spectacular open-air stage. Gary will also be bringing listeners his selection of the best 80s dance classics and rarities as BBC Radio 2 head to the White Isle for the first time to celebrate the explosion of dance music that has hailed from the island for the past three decades.

The special guests will be supported by DJ trio Dream Team Reload and La Movida Ibiza, who will send the crowds on a nostalgic musical journey with classic tracks and tributes to some of the biggest names of the 80s. The event will start at 7pm, with the live broadcast taking place from 9pm until midnight.

'Children of the 80's' launched at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza in 2015 and has since become one of the island's most popular weekly events on the summer calendar, offering an alternative blast-from-the-past party at the hotel's beachfront outdoor concert area. Each party promises an extravaganza of colour, dance floor fillers and sing-a-long classics, taking party-goers back to a time when music defined everything. Special guest artists from the 80s and 90s perform live on the outdoor stage every week, accompanied by audio-visual performance, spectacular dance moves and colourful costumes from yesteryear.

In the wave of the concept's huge success in Ibiza, the party has now travelled to Tenerife as a monthly event at Europe's second Hard Rock Hotel (bi-monthly in July and August). The next 'Children of the 80's' at Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife takes place 16 June with Sabrina Salerno.

'Children of the 80's' at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza opens for the 2018 season on 1 June with The Original Gypsies of Camargue (former legendary members of The Gypsy Kings) and runs every Friday until 28 September from 7pm to midnight.

Presenters Gary Davies, Zoe Ball and Scissor Sister Ana Matronic will all be broadcasting from the famous White Isle, bringing listeners an immense line-up of live performances, interviews and 80s hits as part of the radio station's summer in Ibiza.
