Chewton Glen 'Best For Families'

Chewton Glen

Chewton Glen claimed its prize as the Number 1 UK Hotel for Families in the Condé Nast Johansens UK & Ireland Awards for Excellence 2015. This award follows closely on its recent success in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Awards when it reclaimed its position as the Best UK Holiday Hotel.

The announcement was made at the awards' 33rd Annual Dinner, held at The May Fair Hotel in Central London on Monday 3rd November; Chewton Glen was recognised for its continued improvement. Judges commented: “When a hotel has received as many accolades as Chewton Glen in Hampshire expectations run high on arrival.   But despite this you will still be blown away, even if you are a returning guest, because Chewton Glen is always improving – even when it does not seem possible - and evolving.”

Commenting on the hotels success in the Condé Nast Johansens Awards of Excellence, Managing Director of Chewton Glen and its sister hotel, Cliveden House in Berkshire said:  We are immensely proud to have won this award. Throughout the past five decades the hotel has been renowned for innovation, investment and service, this has been accelerated recently, particularly with the opening of the Treehouse in 2012. These innovative suites have added a new dimension to the hotel and provided an opportunity to market to a new audience, in particular the family market. In August 2013, the hotel believed it hit an all-time high yet this year, it has exceeded all expectations.”

Situated just 90 minutes from London, nestled on the edge of the New Forest and a short walk from the sea, Chewton Glen believes its magical formula is down to the unique combination of its perfect location and unrivalled facilities, complimented by a dedicated team providing only the very best in service; together with the vision of our owners and their continued investment and development of both iconic hotels.

Chewton Glen's wine list and sommelier's also received two special commendations in the Condé Nast Johansens awards; firstly for the 'Best Choice of English Wines' with the judges commenting: “An exceptional and fashionable showcase that educates and introduces the diner to an array of diverse England – and Welsh – wines.” The second commendation was the 'Sommelier's Award' for Chewton Glen with the judges remarking: “An exceptional and extensive list that encourages you to make friends with the sommelier and talk through the choices. It has huge depth and provides a fascinating selection from across the globe. Excellent!”

Monday 3rd November was a brilliant night all round, as across London, in the fabulous setting of The Victoria & Albert Museum, Chewton Glen was also a runner-up in the Walpole British Luxury Awards 2014 in the Corporate Social Awards category, with once again the Treehouse and the hotels environmental conservation policy being commended.
