Skyscanner reveals the cheapest routes per mile in time to banish the January blues

It's Blue Monday, and Skyscanner data has shown that it's historically the second busiest day of the year¹ for travellers to jump online to plan their dream holiday in a bid to escape the gloom.

To help put a smile on travellers' faces, Skyscanner has delved into its extensive flight data to uncover the cheapest long-haul routes per mile², showing travellers just how far their money could take them.  Bali Denpasar is leading the way, appearing twice in the top three cheapest routes per mile, with Manila and Auckland also faring well, showing up more than once.

Lisa Tyndall, Senior Growth Manager at Skyscanner, comments: “We wanted to help our travellers this Blue Monday, and knowing there could be thousands desperate to find that far flung dream destination escape, we analysed our flight data to find which long-haul destinations are offering the best value based on cost per mile.  It was great to see popular destinations such as Bali, Auckland and Manila appearing more than once. There are also many flight tips available to help travellers find the best flight deals, for example, setting price alerts, considering departing from a different airport nearby and just changing their departure day slightly can all help save money.”
