Express by Holiday Inn room costs Doherty family from London £138 less per week than staying in own home Hotel living provides more quality family time

For many people, the thought of moving the whole family into a hotel may seem an extreme measure, but not for the Doherty family from Queens Park in London.

This Easter, the family of four has booked into the Express by Holiday Inn Southampton West for the holidays. By planning ahead the family took advantage of the rates available online so that the week at the hotel cost less than a weeks stay at home.

The average cost of living for a family of two adults and two children in a three bedroom property is £514 a week* which is spent on bills, taxes and rent - £138** more than you might pay for a weeks stay in a family room at an Express by Holiday Inn hotel.

At Express by Holiday Inn guests get a free continental breakfast, spacious bedrooms sleeping up to two adults and two children under 18 and an invigorating power shower. Regular guests can also collect Priority Club Rewards which can either be redeemed against free stays worldwide across all IHG (InterContinental Hotel Group) hotels or exchanged for shop vouchers for many high street stores.

Nicola Doherty said: When we looked into the costs associated with staying at an Express by Holiday Inn we found that we could stay for a week and it worked out cheaper than staying in our own home. This week we are staying at the Express by Holiday Inn Southampton West so that we can be near to the New Forest as the children love it there. Were even considering renting out the house over the summer months so we can do it longer term and save even more.

Moving into a hotel also has several other significant benefits. Instead of slaving away over washing the linen, cleaning the shower and maintaining the home, a family can enjoy the luxury of daily visits from a cleaner and freeing up more time for the family to spend together.

Eleanor Conroy, spokesperson for Express by Holiday Inn, said: Theres a lot to be said for packing your bags and moving into a hotel apart from being great value, its a lot less hassle. There are lots of great deals at our hotels that people can take advantage of. Staying at a hotel is one way for families to enjoy a break away from home while still keeping an eye on the pennies.
