As part of Charitable Travel's mission to make responsible travel more accessible, the social enterprise travel agency has launched a new range of holidays to Florida and the Caribbean which offer travellers more sustainable choices. The new 'Travel More Sustainably' holidays range is an evolution of the traditional package holiday. Combining a hand-picked selection of accommodations making a concerted effort to improve their environmental and social impact; activities and experiences which benefit the local community and conservation projects; as well advice on how to travel with the lowest footprint. Making more sustainable travel an option for those choosing to visit some of the most popular holiday destinations.
Recognising the environmental impact of air travel and that the travel industry still has a long way to go, Charitable Travel is passionate that travel and tourism can be a force for good and, as recognised by the United Nations, sustainability goes beyond environmental protection and must also factor social equity and economic viability. According to the WTTC Report in May 2023 travel and tourism contributes 8.1% of global greenhouse gas emissions (with 13.8% of this related to international aviation). The industry also generates over 7% of global GDP, employing one in 11 people around the world, providing essential support for local communities as well as the connecting of people, broadening of minds and restorative properties which only travel brings.
The new range of Charitable Travel Travel More Sustainably holidays means that in addition to donating 5% of the cost of a booking to charity, those opting for popular locations, which may not have previously been considered as a responsible travel destination, can now make more conscious choices. From how to fly more fairly, how to get around considerately, how to stay responsibly and how to experience ethically.
Travel More Sustainably packages to Florida are available for four- or seven-night stays to locations including Amelia Island, Daytona, Orlando, Bradenton and Anna Maria Island, and St Pete/Clearwater. Seven-night itineraries to the Caribbean include The Bahamas, St Lucia, Grenada and Tobago. Charitable Travel has created detailed online guides for Florida and The Caribbean to help customers understand how to approach responsible travel in these destinations, including details of the holidays available, here: https://charitable.travel/travel-more-sustainably-holidays/

"Our new Travel More Sustainably range to Florida and the Caribbean, demonstrates that it is possible to make sustainable choices when travelling to a wide variety of popular destinations. Aligning with the UNWTO's definition, it's paramount for us to ensure that tourism meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We fully appreciate that flying across the Atlantic itself is not sustainable but, if choosing to travel, our aim is to make it easy as possible everyone to become a conscious traveller. It's about making the best decisions with the choices that are open to the customer. Both these regions have unique ecosystems, and as travellers, it's our responsibility to tread lightly and ensure they thrive for years to come.
By hand-picking accommodation, choosing specific travel options and tailoring experiences to be locally owned and operated, holidays can have a positive impact on the destination's economy and the local people.”

Charitable Travel
Founded in April 2020, Charitable Travel operates the same as other high-end travel agencies, with one key difference. The social enterprise will donate 5% per cent of the cost of the holiday - usually charged to generate profit - to a charity of the customer's choice, via a partnership with JustGiving. Charitable Travel's mission is to make travel “a force for good.” Whether it's a city break or a beach getaway, holidaymakers can rest assured that their booking supports good causes.
Incorporated as Fundraising Futures Community Interest Company (CIC) in November 2019, trading as Charitable Travel, the CIC is the first 'mainstream' leisure travel company to launch in the UK market. Operating as a 'travel-for-good' company, certified by Social Enterprise UK, Charitable Travel is a leisure-focused retailer offering direct customers an array of holidays, hotels, flights, and ancillary products whilst trading with purely social objectives. Company surpluses will be invested in charitable causes rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. Charitable Travel is a Worldchoice Plus member of The Travel Network Group.
