Challenger Learning Center of Minnesota and Mall of America celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

BLOOMINGON, MN - June 15, 2019                                                                        

The Rotunda at Mall of America will transform into its very own solar system with 40-inch-wide planets suspended from ceiling and a 16-foot rocket. Guests will have the opportunity to touch moon rocks from NASA, create their own edible Mars Rover, interact with robotics and assemble a straw rocket and send it through the air with The Challenger Learning Center of MN.

The Makerspace event will also include various events mall wide for families and kids such as:

EXPLORE THE FAR REACHES OF THE UNIVERSE

Northeast Court

With the help of The Bell Museum, kids will have the chance to build their very own Sun, Moon and Earth model.            

NEW PERSPECTIVE with Intel

Southeast Court

Through the power of Intel, guests will experience the wonders of space and exploration through Intel powered PCs and Oculus Rift VR headsets showing the Apollo 11 Moon landing. In addition to the immersive 3D virtual reality experience, Intel is also offering a series of workshops throughout the day, open to all participates 7 years and older. Workshops will teach kids all about drones, lunar landing, artificial intelligence, sound-making innovation and more. Participants can register for each workshop here.

HIGH TOUCH HIGH TECH MSP

Macy's Court

Kid's are invited to ignite their curiosity about science with stations to learn about how tornadoes and lightning are made, how to build a catapult, kitchen chemistry, geology, paleontology and other experiments. High Touch High Tech helps create in-classroom laboratories across the Twin Cities where students conduct experiments and analyze the results while learning to appreciate science at an early age.
