(Macao) – China's first-ever celebrity culinary reality show “Celebrity MasterChef China” came to The Venetian® Macao in early April to film the sixth episode of the second season. Filming brought a group of well-known faces to town, including Zhang Liang, Mike He, Kristy Yang, Bai Kainan, Wang Lin, Zhu Dan, Xin Boqing and Ye Yiqian; as well as last season's returning judges Benny Li, Steven Liu and Jereme Leung.
The show's first season delivered a boost in ratings to Jiangsu Satellite TV during when it was broadcast last August, leading to a wave of enthusiasm for cooking across the country and creating a buzz on social media across Greater China. “Celebrity MasterChef China” is one of the top three programmes broadcast in this time slot and reaches an additional 12 million people when it is broadcast online. The episode featuring The Venetian Macao, which is scheduled to air via Jiangsu Satellite TV at 10 p.m. on May 13, 2015, will help increase awareness of Macao as a major tourism destination and as a hotspot for celebrity sightings.
Locations used during shooting included iconic attractions like The Venetian Macao's outdoor lagoon area, the main lobby, San Luca Canal and Italian restaurant Portofino. Part of the episode was also filmed in the Venetian Ballroom where the celebrities served their food to 64 specially invited guests.
Produced by Shanghai Sunshine Media, “Celebrity MasterChef China” is China's first celebrity culinary reality show. It was the most popular show on TV on the day it first aired and has since won the Asian Adaption Award and been nominated for an International Emmy Award in the category of “Non-script Variety Show.”
The Venetian Macao has been a popular location for film and television shoots, including Chow Yun-Fat's “From Vegas to Macau,” Zhang Ziyi's “My Lucky Star,” and, more recently, the Hollywood sequel film “Now You See Me 2,” helping making the integrated resort a popular place for celebrity sightings. South Korea's hit reality TV show “We Got Married: Global Edition,” the “Dancing 9” TV series, “Boys Over Flowers,” “Fated to Love You” and Taiwanese series “Summer's Desire” have all also filmed at The Venetian Macao.
