CELEBRATING THE WOMEN OF OXFORD'S PAST THIS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Oxford Castle & Prison are hosting an evening of interactive theatre to celebrate International Women's Day and raise money for the Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre.

The charity event will celebrate the unsung heroines from Oxford Castle & Prison's turbulent history with performances of monologues from their perspectives. Women such as Empress Matilda to the Ascott Martyrs, Elizabeth Lilburn and Felicia Skene will all have their voices shared with audiences. The event is a theatrical style event where guests will be guided to each room and cell to 'meet' the different women.

It's only right to use the backdrop of International Women's Day to celebrate the revolutionary women of Oxford Castle & Prison's past in order to raise money for the Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre who work to protect survivors of sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence and harassment.”

The event is being held to raise money for the Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre, a feminist organisation committed to supporting survivors of sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence and harassment. There will be a chance to donate more towards their cause at the end of the event – they are trying to raise £40,000 for their 40th Anniversary.
