As an area three times the size of the UK and the same size as Victoria, knowing the Kimberley region well is no mean feat. The area is subject to the highest tides in the Southern hemisphere, is largely inaccessible and some of the wildlife can be less than friendly. However, this rugged frontier is like the back garden to The Great Escape Charter Company.
As one of the original luxury charter boat operators, The Great Escape Charter Company is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2010 and is marking the occasion in a number or ways. The company is proud to announce it now has permission to land its onboard helicopter at the Mitchell Falls in the Mitchell River National Park. This means that guests not only experience breath taking aerial views over the falls, but they can also land at the falls to do an interpretative walk, swim in the remote rock pools and explore the ancient rock art.
The Great Escape Charter Company is in its second year of using a dedicated onboard helicopter and the guest feedback has been very positive. This year Fleet Helicopters are on board to offer flights which enhance the Kimberley cruise experience. Andrew Windsor, one of the Fleet pilots has 6 years experience flying in the Kimberley making the new alliance a great asset to the team and essential for knowing the best spots to go heli-fishing!
In addition to 10 years of Kimberley cruising, The Great Escape Charter Company have also been taking a privileged few out to the pristine waters of the Rowley Shoals for the past decade. This underwater nirvana never ceases to amaze both the novice snorkeler and most experienced diver alike. We have one of the most sought after diving locations right at our door step, says Kylie Bartle, co-founder of The Great Escape. Guests not only experience first class diving and snorkelling, but can also stay in luxury accomodation on board MV Great Escape. We have an experienced crew of 5 including a Dive Master and an onboard chef who creates a varied menu of contemporary Australian cusine.
To raise the profile of this largely unknown natural wonder of WA, The Great Escape Charter Company has recently released a promotional DVD courtesy of Undersea Productions, to journey into this magnificent underwater world of coral gardens and a myriad of marine species. The DVD can be viewed at The Great Escape Charter Company website http://greatescape.net.au/rowley-shoals/.
For those travelling from afar 10 night Rowley Shoals itineraries can be scheduled and for those that may have experienced the Rowley Shoals the 12 night Northern Atoll Scuba Diving Adventure is available in 2011.
Finally, to finish the year of celebrations, The Great Escape Charter Company are offering incredible deals on the 5 day / 4 night Fishing Barra Bonanza charters in October. Guests enjoy a scenic flight from Broome before joining MV Great Escape to head off on their fishing adventure in the Buccaneer Archipelago says Kylie October is a great time to be hunting the elusive Barramundi as the waters are warming up and we meticulously plan the cruises around the high tidal movement we get, to maximise the guests experience. We are also limiting the charters to 12 guests instead of the usual 14 and the main vessel will be equipped with an extra (fourth) tender to give anglers more room for casting and landing that prized catch!
The small passenger numbers and vessel design of MV Great Escape lends itself perfectly to exclusive charters.
