Celebrate The 60th Anniversary Of Roman Holiday With Royal Demeure

Royal Demeure

After years of providing guests with luxurious Italian holidays, the Royal Demeure Hotel Group has put together a special package at the five-star Hotel d’Inghilterra to celebrate the re-release of the 1953 film Roman Holiday which stars Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn.

The film will be re-opening at BFI Southbank on 19th July 2013 and selected cinemas nationwide, and now travellers can tread the footsteps of the stars of the past on a Royal Demeure Roman Holiday package.

Make like Audrey or Gregory on a three-day mini break complete with a guided tour of Rome on your very own Vespa and the services of a personal shopper for half a day. The package also includes accommodation for two adults in a beautifully decorated double room (complimentary upgrade subject to availability), daily breakfast and Prosecco and fruit platter on arrival for £686 per person.

The Hotel d’Inghilterra, Royal Demeure’s flagship property, is located in the heart of Rome, just minutes away from the Spanish steps and Via Condotti. The iconic hotel was a regular haunt for the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Earnest Hemingway, Mark Twain and even the star of the film Gregory Peck.

The film follows a young princess (Hepburn) who is determined to see Rome on her own. She is frustrated with her overbearing commitments she wanders the city and eventually falls asleep on a park bench. She is found by American reporter Joe Bradley (Peck) and is taken to his apartment for safety. The plot thickens as Peck, who is coincidentally scheduled to interview the princess in the morning, doesn’t realise that she is in fact the lady sleeping on his couch. The two embark on many adventures throughout Rome and eventually fall in love.

The film was a huge success winning three Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA Award. It also marked the beginning of Hepburn’s iconic career, as she won the Best Actress award for all three nominations.
